Leuckart-Wallach Reaction

The Leuckart-Wallach Reaction is a chemical process that transforms aldehydes or ketones into amines through a reductive amination process that occurs with heat application. This reaction employs either ammonium formate or formamide to serve as both the nitrogen source and reducing agent. It requires high temperatures, typically ranging from 120 to 130°C. However, for the reaction that utilizes formamide, the temperature can exceed 165°C.
