MYOF (Myoferlin) is a member of the cellular cytoskeletal protein family, primarily expressed in muscle cells, involved in cell membrane repair and signal transduction. MYOF interacts with other cytoskeletal proteins such as actin to maintain cell structure stability and intracellular material transport. During muscle damage, MYOF can rapidly accumulate at the site of injury to promote cell membrane repair. Specific expression and mutations of the MYOF gene may affect the function of muscle cells, associated with the development of certain muscle diseases.
