Alkenyls
In the field of organic chemistry, an alkene is a type of hydrocarbon that consists of a carbon-carbon double bond.
Alkenes with a carbon-carbon double bond that has four or more carbon atoms are capable of forming numerous structural isomers. Additionally, most alkenes are also considered isomers of cycloalkanes.
Rearrangement reactions can be utilized to synthesize alkenes from other alkenes.
Carbometalation of alkynes is a useful method for preparing multisubstituted alkenes, leading to a diverse array of alkene derivatives.
Alkenes can have a double bond that is either internal or in the terminal position. Alkenes with a double bond in the terminal position are also referred to as α-olefins.
