The amylin receptor, also known as the amylin receptor complex or calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CLR), is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that binds amylin, a hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic β-cells. The amylin receptor typically forms a heterodimer with the receptor activity-modifying protein 1 (RAMP1) or RAMP3. Activation of the amylin receptor plays a role in regulating glucose homeostasis, food intake, and body weight. It is expressed in various tissues including pancreatic islet cells, brain, and peripheral nerves. Dysregulation of the amylin receptor signaling has been implicated in conditions such as diabetes mellitus and obesity.
