88% With [bis(acetoxy)iodo]benzene; In acetonitrile; at 20℃; General procedure: A mixture of imidate 1 (2 mmol), N-phenylthiourea 2 (4 mmol), and PhI(OAc)2 (4 mmol) in MeCN (1 mL) was stirred at rt. After completion of the reaction as monitored by TLC, the reaction mixture was quenched with sat. aq NaHCO3. The organic and aqueous layers were then separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc (2 ×). The combined organic layers were dried (anhyd Na2SO4) and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by silica gel column chromatography using EtOAc/hexane as eluent to afford the corresponding product 3a-r.
