With phenol; at 140℃; General procedure: The bisquinolines were prepared by reacting equimolar amounts of the appropriate 4-chloroquinolineand the diamine in excess phenol at 140 C for 30?60 min, followed by crystallisation of the dihydrochloride product from methanol/ethyl acetate. 4.1.9 N1,N7-Bis(7-methoxyquinolin-4-yl)heptane-1,7-diamine diHCl (11) Mp 165-167 °C. 1H NMR [(CD3)2SO] delta 13.70 (br s, 1H), 9.15 (s, 1H), 8.49 (d, J = 10 Hz, 1H), 8.40 (d, J = 7.0 Hz, 1H), 7.29 (m, 2H), 6.70 (d, J = 7.0 Hz, 1H), 3.93 (s, 3H), 3.47 (m, 1H), 1.67 (m, 2H), 1.39 (m, 3H). Anal (C27H34N4O2Cl2) Reqd: 62.66; H, 6.62; N, 10.83; Cl, 13.70. Found: 66.23; H, 6.83; N, 11.08; Cl, 13.57.
