With trichlorophosphate; In sulfolane; acetonitrile; for 20.0h;Heating / reflux; EXAMPLE 10A 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydro-2,7-anthracenedisulfonyl dichloride Anthraquinone-2,7-disulfonic acid disodium salt (1.24 g, 3 mmol) and sulfolane (5 ml) in acetonitrile (5 ml) was treated with phosphorous oxychloride (2.3 ml, 25 mmol). The mixture was heated at reflux for 20 hours, allowed to cool to room temperature, and filtered through a pad of silica gel with methylene chloride. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure and the crude product was used in the next step without further purification.
