67% Step 2 A mixture of <strong>[20197-98-2]2-chloro-7-methoxyquinazolin-4(3H)-one</strong> (0.88 g, 4.2 mmol) and 1,1-dimethoxypropan-2-amine (2.0 mL, 21 mmol) was heated at 80 C. for 5 h. The reaction was cooled to room temperature. The crude solid was collected and washed with water, filtered and dried to give 2-(1,1-dimethoxypropan-2-ylamino)-7-methoxyquinazolin-4(3H)-one (819 mg, 67%) as a yellow solid. MS: MS m/z 294.2 (M++1).

The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 h, diluted with EtOAc, washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate, water, and brine, and dried over MgS04 to afford N-(4-bromo-3-methoxybenzyl)-1 , 1- dimethoxypropan-2-amine (700 mg). MS (M+1 ) = 319.9
