14% With hydrogenchloride; In ethanol; water;Reflux; [00179] A mixture of l-(biphenyl-4-yl)-2-phenylethanone (Intermediate 14) (100 mg,0.37 mmol), <strong>[178686-24-3]3-ethoxy-4-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde</strong> (65 mg, 0.31 mmol), urea (66 mg, 1.1 mmol), and concentrated HC1 solution (0.03 mL, 0.37 mmol) in EtOH (5 mL) was refluxed overnight. The mixture was evaporated in vacuo, and purified by preparative HPLC to give Compound 34 (22.52mg, yield 14%). 1H NMR (DMSO- 6 300 MHz): delta 10.33 (s, 1H), 8.79 (s, 1H), 7.66 (d, J = 8.4 Hz, 2H), 7.61-7.58 (m, 3H), 7.47-7.43 (m, 3H), 7.37 (d, J = 6.9 Hz, 1H), 7.30 (d, J = 8.4 Hz, 2H), 7.22 (s, 1H), 7.09-7.02 (m, 3H), 6.89 (d, J = 7.8 Hz, 2H), 5.21 (d, J = 2.7 Hz, 1H), 4.06 (q, J = 3.6 Hz, 2H), 1.34 (t, J = 6.9 Hz, 3H); MS (ESI): m/z 508.1 [M+l]+.
