81% With chloro(1,5-cyclooctadiene)rhodium(I) dimer; lithium tert-butoxide; Hexamethylphosphorous triamide In acetonitrile at 130℃; for 12 h; Inert atmosphere; Sealed tube General procedure: To a mixture of [Rh(cod)Cl]2 (3.08 mg, 0.00625 mmol), tBuOLi (40.0 mg, 0.5 mmol),diaryliodonium triflate (0.325 mmol, 1.3 eq) and CH3CN (2.0 mL) in a pressure tubewere added phenol (0.25 mmol) and P(NMe2)3 (8.16 mg, 0.05 mol). The resultingreaction mixture was stirred at 130 oC for 12 h under N2. After cooling to roomtemperature, the mixture was diluted with 10.0 mL ethyl acetate and 5.0 mL aq. HCl(2 N) and stirred vigorously for 30 mins. Then the solution was extracted by ethylacetate for three times, and the combined organic phases were washed with satd. NaCl,and dried over MgSO4, filtered through a pad of Celite and concentrated in vacuo.The residue was purified by flash chromatography eluted with Hexane/AcOEt (30:1).
