87 % | With zinc(II) acetate dihydrate In hexane at 100℃; Inert atmosphere; | Step 2 Synthesis of Oxazoline Ring General procedure: Nitrile 3 (4.5 mmol, 100 mol%), Zn(OAc)2.2H2O (29.5 mg, 0.13 mmol, 3 mol%) and aminol 4 (9.0 mmol, 200 mol%) was taken in an oven dried sealed tube. Dry Hexane (2 mL, 0.5 M) was added and suspension was stirred at 100 for 24 hours. After this time, the mixture was cooled to room temperature and diluted with 20 mL ethyl acetate followed by washing with 10 mL water, 10 mL saturated NaHCO3 and 10 mL brine. Na2SO4 was added as drying agent. The crude mixture was filtered, solvent was evaporated, and product was purified by flash column chromatography using a gradient mixture of ethyl acetate and hexane as eluent. The ligands L2-L12 were isolated in 82-96 % yield (Scheme S-1). |
